It’s a sad day for Gogglebox Australia fans, as one of the show’s longtime stars has passed away.
This morning, entertainment reporter Peter Ford announced the devastating news on 3AW that Di Kershaw has died after battling an illness.
Di, who had been on the show since the first season, leaves behind her husband Mick, with who she appeared on the show with.
“She’s been sick sadly for a couple of months now, so condolences to Mick and the entire family. She was a great talent — the producers struck gold when they found her,” Ford said.
Di and Mick had been married for over 50 years and made a living as Indigenous art dealers.
Di was one of the show’s most loved personalities, with her quick wit and sharp tongue leaving viewers in stitches.
She once took aim at her former Gogglebox castmate, Angie Kent, after she appeared on a number of reality shows following her departure from the series.
“She was on Gogglebox, then went to the jungle, then she became the Bachelorette, and now she’s a dancing star… Spare me. She’s no dancer, that’s for sure,” she said.
In 2020, Di received an Order of Australia for her dedication and service to the visual arts.
Di and Mick’s Gogglebox bio broke down the couple’s life together.
“Di, a former model, convinced Mick to give up his high-flying career as an advertising executive in order to follow their passion for art. They opened their own art gallery and dealership and 30-years later, the business is still going strong,” it read.
