Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are reuniting! HBO Max announced on Nov. 16 that in honor of the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, all of the originals are making a comeback for a special titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts to discuss the franchise films and share behind-the-scenes stories.
“For the first time ever, the legendary cast returns to where the magic started,” a message in the first teaser trailer states as scenes from the franchise play. Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger aren’t the only ones joining! Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), and more will also appear in the special.
HBO Max shared the first look of Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint assembled for the reunion special on Twitter on Dec. 9. “Like they never left,” the streaming service captioned the post. They also released a first-look teaser on Dec. 5 showing Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), and Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley) getting their invitations back to Hogwarts. At the end of the teaser, there’s a brief glimpse of what appears to be Watson boarding the train to the school of witchcraft and wizardry. I can tell she’s going to make us cry during the reunion. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts airs on HBO Max on New Year’s Day. Check out the teasers and official poster ahead!
