Byron Baes just recently dropped on Netflix and it seems to be all anyone can talk about. The show, which is set in Byron Bay (obviously), centres around a group of influencers and of course, where there’s a social media following, there’s drama.
When first announced, there was quite a lot of backlash from locals of the northern NSW town, but the streaming platform decided to go ahead with it anyway.
“There was absolutely no consultation whatsoever,” Ben Gordon, Byron Bay resident, told the Today show. “They are proposing to drag our name through the mud and make millions of dollars without offering anything back to the community and completely misrepresenting who we are, and it’s totally wrong.”
Now, people are wanting to know just how much the participants are getting paid, and lucky for us, a few influencers spilled the tea.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, ex Bachelor star Nathan Favro revealed that he was paid a good amount to appear on the show.
“We were paid handsomely, Netflix looks after you,” he said. Fellow influencer Jade Kevin Foster agreed, saying: “They were very generous.”
The comments come after someone, who claims to be from production, told the Daily Mail that the cast was paid less than $500 a day.
“Talent were all paid the same out-of-pocket expense to appear on the show, which was less than $500 a day to cover off work and living costs,” they said.
Considering other reality TV shows such as The Bachelor and Married At First Sight are allegedly paying their contestants less than $100 a day, the Byron Baes‘ stars have a pretty sweet deal.
14 men and women have chosen to take part in the new reality TV show, including former Bachelor and Bachelor In Paradise contestant Nathan Favro, Kyle Sandilands‘ assistant-turned-talent manager Alex Reid and Gold Coast singer Sarah St James.
