Has this ever happened to you? You’re watching MasterChef Australia and you find yourself saying, “I could do that!” If so, then maybe it’s time for you to take a crack at the cooking competition yourself.
If you manage to make it through the audition process, you’ll be in the running to win a cool $250,000, and of course have the opportunity to cook amongst some of the world’s most formidable food talents.
Applications for MasterChef Australia 2023 are now open, which means your food dream could become a reality quicker than you think. Just like the contestants this year, your dishes will be judged by Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen, and while the feedback may not always be stellar, I would give anything to hear Melissa eloquently destroy my mediocre dish.
To enter, you’ll need to have a digital photo of yourself handy, as well as a minimum of three photos showcasing your incredible dishes. You also have the option of adding a video to your application, to help the producers get to know you a bit better.
Once you have provided your details, you will then be required to answer some questions about your personal life. For example, what your life was like growing up? What your hobbies are outside of cooking? And of course, what inspired you to apply?
There’s also a questionnaire dedicated to your style of cooking and who you consider your food idols to be. Oh, and while it does seem like the contestants on MasterChef Australia are trained professionals, the show is strict on all applicants being amateurs. So, you will also need to disclose any cooking experience you have had, including any work you’ve done in a professional kitchen.
You may also want to check if you’re related to anyone who works for Channel 10, because you won’t be able to submit an application if that’s the case. It’s also worth noting that all applicants must be aged 18 years or above by Monday, October 17 2022, and must be an Australian citizen.
