The Hunted Australia 2024 finale was a wild ride as the remaining Fugitives faced their toughest challenge yet. With time running out, it was down to two teams — Chelsea and Romanee, and Andy and Deb — to make it to the extraction point at Gem Pier in Williamstown. But in the end, only one Fugitive walked away victorious.
In a season packed with close calls and daring escapes, Andy and Deb had been one of the most strategic teams, managing to stay off the Hunters’ radar until just three days before the finale. Their methodical approach —changing vehicles every 24 hours, moving swiftly, and relying on the kindness of strangers — kept them in the game longer than most, but the pressure was mounting as the extraction day drew near.
As the final minutes ticked away, it was Andy who ultimately pulled off the dramatic escape, winning the $51,500 in prize money stashed in his backpack. In an unforgettable moment, Andy dived into the water and swam to the extraction boat, narrowly avoiding capture while his teammate Deb was caught just steps away from freedom.
And the Hunted Australia 2024 Winner Is…. Andy!
“I was disappointed that I wasn’t on the boat with Deb because we really hoped to be there together,” Andy shared, reflecting on the bittersweet win. “But it was a huge relief that, as a team, we had done it. We put so much effort in and had such a great time.”
Andy and Deb had worked seamlessly throughout the competition, but their journey took a tense turn when Hunters at HQ identified CCTV footage of the duo getting into a vehicle. Despite this slip, their preparation proved invaluable as they mapped out their final moves with precision. However, the Hunters were already circling the pier by the time Andy and Deb made their final dash.
As they arrived at Gem Pier, the ground Hunters were ready. Deb was captured just moments before Andy made his daring escape. With mere seconds left before the boat departed, Andy plunged into the water, swimming furiously as the clock counted down. He managed to haul himself onto the boat just in time, blowing a kiss to Deb as he sped off to safety.
Back at home, Andy reflected on the incredible experience. “Once you come home, you just go straight back into your normal life of work, kids, and you sort of forget about it. But it’s been awesome re-living it. Deb put herself outside her normal comfort zone going on Hunted, and I think it really expanded her horizons as a person.”
For Deb, while the ending wasn’t what they had hoped for as a team, she couldn’t be more proud of their achievement. “We definitely learned a few life lessons and are so, so happy we did it. Absolutely one of the best experiences of our lives, 100 per cent.”
In the end, Andy’s escape and the $51,500 prize became a testament to their teamwork, resilience, and the generosity of strangers who played a key role in their survival.
