Born into Hollywood royalty, Iris Apatow has been making a name for herself since the tender age of five. The 2007 romcom “Knocked Up” was Apatow’s introduction to acting via the mentorship of her parents, Judd Apatow (the film’s director) and Leslie Mann, who played her onscreen mom. For most of their childhood, she and her big sis, Maude Apatow (who fans may recognise as Lexi from “Euphoria”) were joined at the hip, often playing onscreen sisters. In more recent years, however, they’ve expanded their portfolios.
Apatow’s first solo adventure without her mom or sister was as Arya Hopkins, a spoiled kid actress on Netflix’s comedy series “Love.” The TV show ran for three seasons from 2016 to 2018. After taking a brief hiatus from acting during high school, Apatow is now teaming up with her parents once again in Netflix’s “The Bubble.” Directed by Judd Apatow, the 2022 comedy follows a fictional cast as they enter a quarantine bubble amid a COVID-19 outbreak in hopes of shooting their movie, “Cliff Beasts 6,” without catching the virus. Starring alongside Mann, Apatow plays Krystal Kris, a viral TikTok dancer who’s brought on set to teach choreography and promote the film.
Known for her wicked comedic timing, Apatow’s future in Hollywood looks very bright. Keep reading to learn more about this rising star, including which A-list celebrity is her real-life roommate and why she calls Maude Apatow “Town Yeller.”

She and Maude Don't Think Their Dad Is Funny
The teen years are when things start changing between fathers and daughters, Apatow warned TV host Conan O’Brien on late-night show “Conan” in 2017. He recalled a moment when his daughters essentially told him that he had forever ruined comedy for them: “Dad, I hate your jokes so much that sometimes my friends make jokes, which are funny, but I don’t laugh because you make jokes.” Apatow also shared the nickname his daughters gave him after he used his “Hi, this is Judd Apatow” line to score last-minute dinner reservations. “She keeps calling me this name that’s really harsh, might be true though . . . Hollywood D*ck.”

Her Roommate Is Olivia Rodrigo
While appearing on “The Drew Barrymore Show” to talk about her latest project, “The Bubble,” Apatow talked about living with her best friend and roommate, Olivia Rodrigo. She revealed that “Sex and the City” movie nights are a frequent occurrence in their household and that they love hosting “Euphoria” watch parties. From tea parties and matching heart tattoos to supporting one another’s endeavours, these two are the definition of friendship goals.

Britney Spears Was Her "Pop Star Alter Ego" For "The Bubble"
Apatow’s “The Bubble” character, a viral TikTok dancer named Krystal Kris, was somewhat inspired by pop star sensation and dance legend Britney Spears. “I was told I had to live up to Britney standards, which is not possible,” Apatow revealed during a cast interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” “We all had our different pop star alter egos. I don’t even think [the other cast members] knew they had them.” Keegan-Michael Key said he later found out that his alter ego was Patti LaBelle.
