MAFS 2023: Is Harrison Boon an Actor? An Investigation
“Married At First Sight” has never been short of drama and controversy, and this year’s season is no exception. One contestant who has particularly stood out for his outrageous behaviour is Harrison Boon.
From the start, Harrison has been a polarising figure. Some viewers find him entertaining, while the majority find him downright toxic. Some fans have even speculated that he’s an actor being directed by producers to create drama on the show. However, Harrison has recently denied these rumours in an interview with New Idea.
While he may not be an actor, the groom did reveal that he enjoys playing the villain on the show.
“There’s a lot of power as well in being the villain, it’s not all bad. If I need to be that person, then so be it,” he told the publication. “I think that they [MAFS producers] just would not have a show if they didn’t have a villain. There’d be no one to get in the other people’s faces or there’d be no one to compare against.”
Harrison Thinks There’s Power in Being the Villain
Despite the negative attention he’s received from viewers, Harrison seems to be embracing his role as the season’s villain. He believes that there’s “power” in being the villain.
“Let’s say I get caught parking in a car spot that I shouldn’t park in or not paying a parking fine. People will say, ‘Oh, that’s Harrison.’ Whereas if Duncan or Josh did that, they’d be like, ‘Oh my god, that’s out of character for them!'”
Harrison also acknowledged that being the villain can be tough at times. And people tend to question his intentions even when he does something good.
“It’s tough because then if you do something good, people are like, ‘Oh, you’re just trying to do that for fame or to fix your image’. So, it is tough but there is a lot more freedom in being the villain,” he said.
While some viewers may not appreciate Harrison’s behaviour, there’s no denying that he’s been a major talking point. Whether he’s a true villain or just playing one on TV, he’s certainly made an impact on the show.
“Married At First Sight” airs Sunday at 7.00pm and Monday — Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
