Courtney’s career has spanned over 15 years, and he has become one of Australia’s most versatile actors.
Born in Sydney in 1986, Courtney attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and graduated in 2008. His early appearances in “Packed to the Rafters” and “All Saints” paved the way for his lead role in “Spartacus”. He later starred opposite Tom Cruise in “Jack Reacher” and played a key role in the acclaimed 2020 ABC drama “Stateless” as blue-collar detention centre officer Cam.
He also recently reprised his role of Captain Boomerang in James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” for DC Comics and Warner Bros., and starred in the action-comedy “Jolt” opposite Kate Beckinsale.
Most recently, Jai stars in the Netflix series “Jigsaw,” a heist action drama that takes a non-linear approach to storytelling in a way where viewers are in control.
This is not Courtney’s first time working in New Zealand. “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” also filmed in Auckland way back in 2009.
Currently, Courtney is in New Mexico, filming a Netflix drama called “American Primeval”. It explores the birth of the American West as men and women fight for control over this new world.
