After months of speculating who would fill the spinning red chair vacated by Keith Urban on “The Voice Australia” we finally have answers!
Seven Network has announced that Jason Derulo will be joining the show as a coach in 2023.
I’m sure you’ve all bopped along to one of his catchy songs before. The American superstar is well-known for his chart-topping hits such as ‘Ridin’ Solo’, ‘Whatcha Say’ and ‘Savage Love’. Not to mention the fact that he has sold over 250 million singles worldwide. If that wasn’t enough, the singer has also been dubbed the “King of TikTok,” with over 57 million followers on the popular social media platform.
Derulo is excited to be joining the hit show, stating that he has always loved “The Voice” and Australia.
“I’ve always loved “The Voice” and Australia happens to be one of my favourite places in the world. I can’t wait to hear all the amazing talent down under!” He said in a press release.
He will be joining returning coaches Jessica Mauboy, Rita Ora, and Guy Sebastian, as well as host, Sonia Kruger. The upcoming twelfth season of the singing competition will begin filming in Sydney in the next few weeks.
“I will bring a global perspective,” Derulo told The Sunday Telegraph as he explained his strategy.
“These are obviously musicians from Australia but the way that the music industry has changed, there’s no rules anymore.”
He emphasised that it is important not to “pigeonhole” the contestants as mere local artists.
“I think more so than ever, the lines have been blurred so there’s an opportunity for a global star to come out of this,” he added.
Channel 7 and 7plus will premiere the 2023 season of “The Voice Australia” later this year. Fans are eagerly anticipating what the new lineup of coaches will bring to the table. With Derulo’s massive popularity and talent, it’s sure to be an exciting season for all involved.
