Jay Ellis and Nina Senicar Tie the Knot in a Tuscany Garden Wedding
Jay Ellis and Nina Senicar have tied the knot! The “Insecure” alum/“Top Gun: Maverick” actor married his longtime model girlfriend on July 9 in a beautiful herb garden wedding in Tuscany, Italy, Vogue reported. The couple, who shares their daughter Nora Grace together, were surrounded by close friends and family on their special day.
According to the outlet, Ellis and Senicar met at a Los Angeles bar in 2015. They dated for five years – Ellis didn’t publicly confirm their romance until a 2017 interview on “The Breakfast Club” – before Ellis popped the question with a sunset proposal in Bali in January 2019. The pair were originally set to wed on July 9, 2020, but delayed their nuptials twice due to the pandemic and a family loss.
“At the time, Italy was one of the hardest hit areas in the world, on a strict lockdown and closed to tourists,” Ellis recalled to Vogue. “Like everyone else in the world, we weren’t sure how widespread it would be or how long any of it would last, so we had to cancel everything.” The pair finally set a new date and achieved their dream wedding in Italy thanks to some heavy Zoom planning and schedule coordinating. “We always knew we wanted to get married in Italy because going there was the first trip we ever took together,” Senicar added.
Following their wedding, Ellis told Vogue that the couple hopes to get a little R&R after throwing “the craziest three-day party ever.” “After everything that everyone has been through over the last few years to bring over 190 people together for three days in Tuscany and celebrate was surreal,” he said. “Seeing all of our friends from different parts of our lives together smiling and laughing, connecting, forming their own friendships was such a huge part of what we wanted out of the weekend and the celebration. We wanted to create moments and memories that would last the rest of our lives.”
