Jennifer Lopez has been in the industry for over 20 years, and she’s showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. The singer/actress is set to star in the rom-com Marry Me, alongside Owen Wilson, as Kat Valdez.
Kat, whose life and career bares an uncanny resemblance to JLo’s, is gearing up to wed the love of her life before an audience of her loyal fans. However, seconds before the ceremony, she finds out her fiance cheated on her.
Spotting math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson) in the audience, she impulsively decides to marry him instead, and what follows is a story of an unlikely romance between two extraordinarily different people.
But while that all sounds well and good, we all know that no JLo movie is complete without a brilliant soundtrack starring the queen herself. The album, featuring original songs from Jennifer and Latin star Maluma, is set to be released on February 4 and includes her single On My Way.
As we celebrate the movie and the accompanying soundtrack, we thought it would be a good idea to reflect on JLo’s career and talk about some of her greatest hits!
Waiting for Tonight
Entertainment Weekly called it one of the best songs of Lopez’s career and we really can’t disagree. Waiting for Tonight was a smash hit off of her debut album, On the 6. The catchy tune is one that JLo still performs to this day, even after 20 years in the biz.
Let’s Get Loud
The song that was originally meant for Gloria Estefan is now one of Jennifer’s biggest hits. Earning her a second Grammy Award nomination for Best Dance Recording, everything about this track is perfect, from the music video to the energy it brings to the table.
Jenny from the Block
Starring her then-fiance and now-boyfriend Ben Affleck, Jenny from the Block is one of Lopez’s most recognisable songs. Sitting on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 20 weeks, you can’t help but bust a move when the DJ plays this tune.
On the Floor
On the Floor is Lopez’s most successful song to date, soaring through 30 national charts and going triple platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America. Not to mention the music video which has racked up over 1.3 billion views.
On My Way
We couldn’t have a top five list without mentioning something more recent and On My Way is proof that JLo is still killing the game. The ballad features powerful vocals and lyrics that will pull on your heartstrings.
Marry Me will be released nationwide in HOYTS Cinemas on February 11. The soundtrack is available to stream now.
