In a shocking Hell Week elimination twist, Big Brother Australia housemate Jess Trend, 29, was sent packing after making it to the top nine. Trend found herself eliminated by four votes, after Danny Hayes was given the power to save a housemate from potential eviction, and chose to save Ari Kimber.
Since her elimination, Trend has been recovering from a knee reconstruction following a VFL round one injury that saw her rupture her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
“It’s about two months post surgery… hopefully March next year [I’ll] focus on getting back to footy and then pursue AFLW at the end of that year,” she told AAA.
Back in March, she wrote on Instagram that it was “back to rehab life” after she “absolutely did a doozy on the left knee”.
“I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again,” she wrote, maintaining a positive attitude. “It is what it is, and I’m already focusing on the journey ahead.”
And from the looks of things, she was already making great progress in her recovery before Big Brother Australia began airing.
The footy star put her AFLW career with Fremantle Football Club on the backburner last year in order to pursue Big Brother and to spend more time with her nanna during her final months. Trend got the news that her grandmother had passed away just days after she entered the house.
Trend has no regrets about her time on Big Brother Australia, though.
“Some people might say I played a little hard from the get-go but I was never just going to float through the game,” she told AAA. “Overall I’m really proud of how they’ve (Big Brother) shown me to the rest of Australia.”
