Lewis Hamilton is no wallflower, that’s for sure. The Formula One Mercedes champion is never afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to fashion, and his latest look proves he will always be a trend trailblazer. He was pictured taking a walk in Budapest, Hungary, on 28 July wearing a wonderfully colourful outfit ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The 37-year-old, who is preparing for the last race before the summer break, wore an eye-catching outfit put together by his regular stylist, Law Roach.
There’s no denying this is dopamine dressing at its finest. Wearing a white and green oversize T-shirt with spray-can green polka dots teamed with a knitted polka-dot bucket hat, the two items were both from the Moncler X JW Anderson collection as Hamilton continues to champion British brands. He paired the top with bold, mustard, flared trousers and Off-White Vulcanized High-Top Trainers. Adding the perfect finishing touches in the form of layered gold necklaces and sunglasses, he oozed style confidence.
However, the F1 fans amongst us may have noticed his accessorising was more toned down than we’re used to seeing. Earlier this year, Hamilton found himself in trouble with the FIA after it tightened the rules around drivers wearing jewellery while racing. After being asked to remove it, Hamilton protested the stricter regulations by attending a press conference during the Miami Grand Prix fully kitted out in gold chains and multiple rings, claiming the new rules were “a step backwards.” He has since abided by them, even removing his nose ring before the British Grand Prix in July, but we can’t pretend we aren’t happy to see him accessorising outside of the day job.
This is by no means the first time that Hamilton has wowed us off the track. We salute the way he uses his platform to support emerging talent, particularly Black talent, in the world of sport and fashion. He notoriously filled his table at the 2021 Met Gala with Black fashion designers and has launched a scheme to promote more Black teachers in STEM education. He’s a regular feature on best-dressed lists for his statement looks, too. Like fellow flamboyant dresser Harry Styles, we love it when fashion is playful, fun, and individual.
Hamilton is due to race in the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend before breaking for a few weeks. While he might be having a tumultuous racing season this year, there are certainly no bumps in the road when it comes to his wardrobe.
