Australia’s biggest TV night has delivered a major surprise, with Larry Emdur taking home the top honour — the coveted Gold Logie for 2024. This marks his second Logie win, and what a night it was for Larry! Earlier, he snagged his first-ever Logie, winning the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter.

At 59, Larry has been a familiar face on Aussie screens since he was just 19. But until now, a win at the prestigious awards ceremony had always eluded him.

When he stepped on stage to accept his Gold Logie award, Larry was clearly overwhelmed and thrilled.

“Was so convinced that I wasn’t going to win this that I said that if I did win it, I would have all the nominees’ initials tattooed on my ass live tomorrow morning,” he joked during his acceptance speech.

“I love this business so much. I love being in TV, love being on TV and I’ve never done anything else and I’ve never wanted to do anything else.

“Whether it’s sitting on The Morning Show couch interviewing Lindy Klim who has invented a new product which is a face mask for vulvas or a 150kg truck driver who has won on The Price Is Right dry humping me, being the most axed man in television,” he joked.

“There are times like that where I was like, ‘I should not be in this business’.”

He continued: “After Price is Right I took a couple of steps down and got axed and axed and axed and Sylvie and I said that’s it, no more crappy shows. And then Channel Ten called me about doing a show called Celebrity Dog School and I said we agreed not to do any more crappy shows and she said, ‘I need a new kitchen, you are doing it’.”

Larry’s Gold Logie win saw him beat out some big names, including Julia Morris, Robert Irwin, Andy Lee, Asher Keddie, Sonia Kruger, and Tony Armstrong.

The night was full of celebration as the stars took the stage to accept their awards, honouring the most popular and outstanding talents in Aussie TV for their incredible contributions.
