Love Island Australia’s Phoebe Spiller and Mitch Eliot Announce Shock Split
Love Island Australia‘s fan-favourite couple, Phoebe Spiller and Mitch Eliot, have officially called it quits after more than two years together. The pair, who charmed viewers as the runners-up of Season 4 back in 2022, had been inseparable since their time on the show.
Love Island’s Phoebe and Mitch’s Break-Up Announcement
In touching Instagram posts, both Phoebe and Mitch opened up about their breakup, making it clear that while there’s still a lot of love between them, they ultimately wanted different things in life.
Phoebe, a 26-year-old fashion student, kicked off her emotional message with a confession: “I honestly never thought I’d be writing this… Unfortunately, Mitch and I have separated.”
She went on to say, “As you can imagine, I have been a wreck and not in a good head space as of lately, so I’d really appreciate it if you guys don’t ask questions or make assumptions. As much as I wanted him to be my forever, we ended up wanting different things. Regardless of that though, I will always love him.”
Mitch, the 27-year-old personal trainer, echoed Phoebe’s heartfelt sentiments in his own post. He admitted he “never thought [he’d] be the one to make a breakup post,” but felt it was necessary to share the news to “focus on getting through this and moving on.”
“I Still Love You Very Very Much”
Speaking directly to Phoebe in his post, Mitch expressed his gratitude and affection: “Phoebe, we fell in love the day we met and from then on you showed me what it’s like to be so bloody loved. You gave me two amazing years and I can’t thank you enough for that. But we need time to grow as our own people. I still love you very very much and will still always be backing you.”
Their split comes just seven months after Mitch made a grand romantic gesture by unveiling a tattoo dedicated to Phoebe. As an early Christmas present, Mitch surprised her with a tattoo that read “PS I love you,” cleverly referencing both the iconic phrase and Phoebe’s initials.
Pheobe Calls Out “Fake” Followers
Just hours after making their split Insta-official, Phoebe had a strong message for her female fans. She took to the platform to criticise those who quickly followed Mitch after the announcement: “Guys wtf over 100 girls have followed Mitch already, EXCUSE ME FAKE FKN FOLLOWERS u girls are NOT LOYAL,” she wrote.
Phoebe’s candid reaction underscores the emotional toll of their breakup and highlights the complexities of navigating a public relationship in the social media age. Despite the heartbreak, both Phoebe and Mitch seem committed to moving forward with grace and mutual respect.
From their whirlwind romance on Love Island to their real-life relationship, Phoebe and Mitch’s journey has been a delight for fans to follow. Sending love and support to both of them.
