Despite his fun, chilled, surfer vibe, “MAFS” groom Tim Calwell is on a quest for true love after a painful breakup. Tim decided to take a chance on the show after his ex cheated on him. But these wounds are still fresh — he called it quits with his ex just six months before filming the show.

Originally from Darwin, Tim’s journey has taken him around the globe. He’s lived in Colombia, Melbourne, Thailand, and Bali before settling on the Gold Coast. His multicultural background intrigues fans, especially when he surprised viewers by speaking Spanish during his wedding sneak peek.

What Does “MAFS” Groom Tim Do for Work?

Aside from globetrotting around the world, Tim is supposedly a self-made millionaire.

In a YouTube video posted in 2018, Tim detailed how he went from broke to a whopping $1,000,000 in just seven months. He amassed his wealth through drop-shipping, a savvy business model enabling individuals to sell products online and ship them directly to buyers without holding any inventory.

“Basically, what I did is I quit my job in May, and then I left to Thailand,” Tim explained in the video. “I came across a couple of people doing e-commerce, and I thought this could be a good idea.”

Beyond his online ventures, and according to his “MAFS” bio, “Tim currently has a handful of online businesses to his name” and in the future, “he hopes to build a school in Ethiopia, where his sister was adopted from”.
