Things got pretty wild at the “Married At First Sight” dinner party when Bronte and Harrison showed up in bad shape. Can you believe the groom broke up with Bronte via text message after the retreat? Actually, given the behavior and actions of the groom throughout the relationship, it’s not entirely surprising that he would choose such a cowardly approach to end things.
The Retreat Week drama had taken a toll on Bronte. She expressed to Harrison that she wanted to go home and that was enough for the groom to end things. And this was after he’d told her he was falling in love with her at the last commitment ceremony. Bronte was heartbroken and couldn’t understand how things had turned so quickly.
“I feel like I’ve been taken for an absolute ride,” Bronte told producers. “The group after the retreat just kept throwing at me that I’m being naive. And I see it now, I feel it bright as day.”
Bronte Opens Up About the Break-Up With the Girls
After a hasty entrance to the dinner party together, Bronte shared her breakup news with the girls immediately. They were all fired up and ready to take Harrison down for his manipulative ways.
It was an ‘I told you so’ moment for Claire, who told producers: “Bronte has finally seen Harrison for the giant pimple he is.”
Meanwhile, Harrison tried to defend himself and explain his side of the story. “I’ve realised that I need consistency and trust in a relationship,” he said, attempting to gain sympathy from the others. However, Ollie saw right through his facade and pointed out that Harrison’s tears were fake.
“Every time he does tear up, he doesn’t actually cry,” Ollie said, exposing Harrison’s lack of authenticity.
Harrison Gets Grilled by the Brides
At the dinner table, the women didn’t hold back and challenged Harrison’s decision to break up with Bronte so suddenly admitting it “didn’t add up”.
Harrison was direct in his approach and made it clear that he no longer trusted Bronte, despite her attempts to reassure him. He pointed out their ongoing trust issues, leaving Bronte feeling defeated and hurt.
“This is the problem I have in this relationship, you continually break my trust,” he told her.
Unable to bear the tension any longer, Bronte stood up from the table and made her exit from the dinner party.
“I’m hurt, I’m pissed off, I’m angry,” she admitted, reflecting on the situation.
Bronte and Harrison… Are Back Together Again?
The drama between Bronte and Harrison had everyone on the edge of their seats.
Expert John Aiken wanted to know why the couple broke up the night before, but were back together tonight. Bronte spilled that it was because of some comments at the retreat, but she’s “still falling for Harrison”.
During their argument, Bronte admitted that the retreat comments made her want to run, which really hurt Harrison.
“When I said I wanted to leave, it was because I was scared,” Bronte said. “I am an extremely emotional person, I’ve never been good at communicating or articulating how I feel.”
But Harrison denied ever manipulating her and claimed that she just gets too emotional.
“I really reject the notion that I’ve ever manipulated Bronte. That comment really offended me, I’ve actually never heard that before,” he said.
“There has been a theme in the experiment where Bronte does get worked up and emotional and she maybe exaggerates.”
John Calls Out Harrison’s BS
John wasn’t buying it and called Harrison out, asking him to take some responsibility for the relationship issues. He challenged Harrison to identify some of his problematic behaviours, but the groom couldn’t even think of a single example. Even after being given a second chance, the groom remained convinced that he wasn’t contributing to any of the issues in their relationship.
Everyone was pretty shocked, including Claire and Melinda. They couldn’t believe that the couple had gone from leaving to staying. And then Lyndall spoke up and accused Harrison of emotionally manipulating Bronte.
“I feel in disbelief at what I’m listening to because I was willing to go to war for you at that dinner party, Bronte. I told you everything that Harrison had said, the fact that he called you fake,” Lyndall fumed.
“You cried to me saying ‘I’m done with him, all the girls were right’. And now I sit here and I feel f***ing stupid.”
But when John questioned Bronte about it, she denied it and said that her feelings for Harrison were real. However, she did admit that she sometimes feels like she’s not good enough for him.
Harrison reassured her that she is good enough and the couple left the couch together, staying in the experiment. What a wild ride! We’re not sure what next week holds for the pair.
“Married At First Sight” airs Sunday at 7.00pm and Monday — Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
