“MAFS” star Martha Kalifatidis has always been an open book in sharing her life experiences with her large social media following. However, there’s one topic she’s decided to keep private. Martha and her fiancé Michael Brunelli welcomed baby Lucius in February, and since then, she’s opted to keep her parenting style offline.
Speaking with The Daily Telegraph, the influencer expressed concern about the intense scrutiny and potential backlash that comes with sharing such personal details.
“I’ve just stayed really quiet about the way I’ve chosen to do things and my opinions when it comes to parenting,” Martha said.
“The parenting and mum community online is such an intense place — it can be amazing, helpful, and relatable, but God forbid you do something different to the next person — within hours you can have thousands of people commenting and reprimanding you, which would be so overwhelming for a new mum.”
Embracing a Positive Social Media Experience
Despite her reservations, Martha has found solace in the support she has received online. Social media has once again become a “happy place” for her, with the majority of the commentary surrounding her journey into motherhood being overwhelmingly positive.
“I’m ignoring the scary, sad, and scolding messages and just enjoying our baby,” Martha shared, highlighting her determination to focus on the joy of raising her son with Michael.
While acknowledging the occasional moments of stress that come with being a new mum, Martha said that motherhood has come naturally to her. However, she did mention the initial challenges faced by baby Lucius, including a diagnosis of jaundice and difficulties with feeding that led to weight loss. But she assured everyone that “he is now catching up.”
