Planning to go away this coming Easter long weekend? Well, you may want to take a rain check, because MasterChef Australia: Fans & Favourites is set to premiere on Easter Monday, April 18. There really is nothing better than snuggling on the couch, with some great food on your plate and on-screen as you watch the country’s most talented cooks battle it out in the MasterChef kitchen.
Melissa Leong, Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo are back to judge along with some of the most recognisable names in the hospitality industry. This year, the format for the hit reality show is going to look slightly different. For the first time ever, 12 driven and passionate home cooks are going to go head-to-head with former MasterChef alums, including season one winner Julie Goodwin, season 10 champion Sashi Cheliah and season seven winner Billie McKay.
Joining them will be Minoli De Silva, Sarah Todd, Alvin Quah, Mindy Woods, Aldo Ortado, Tommy Pham, Michael Weldon, Christina Batista and John Carasig (yes, that’s right. The man behind the white chocolate volute incident). While we’re not sure who the “fans” will be just yet, we have seen little sneak previews in the most recent promos.
Speaking of promos, POPSUGAR Australia was able to gain exclusive access to the first look of MasterChef Australia and it looks more exciting than ever. The minute-long preview gives us an insight into what we can expect from the upcoming season, and spoiler alert: Dessert king Adriano Zumbo is back. Goodwin, who is returning to the kitchen 13 years later also made an appearance, telling Zonfrillo that she was “bricking it”.
MasterChef Australia is behind the careers of big names such as Adam Liaw, Poh Ling Yeow and Reynold Poernomo and no doubt this season is going to push the next generation of cooks into the spotlight.
