Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury Clash Over Whether to Send Bambi to School
Molly-Mae Hague has been keeping her followers updated with life as a mum via her social media channels, but new Netflix show “At Home With the Furys” gives a broader insight into the occasional parenting clashes between her and fiancé Tommy Fury. The series follows Tommy’s boxer brother Tyson as he navigates retirement from the sport, along with his wife Paris, and their six kids. While Tyson, Paris, who is expecting her seventh child, and Tommy were all raised in Traveller communities, Molly-Mae was not.
In the second episode of the Netflix series, which premiered on 16 August, the Fury family discuss education. “Venezuela came out of school when she turned 11 because in Traveller tradition, that is what they do,” Paris explains about her eldest daughter. “They come out of school and they learn their parents’ skills.” As Molly-Mae and Tommy discuss becoming parents – the series was filmed before they welcomed baby Bambi into the world – it’s clear that their upbringings were from two different worlds.
“Growing up the way I’ve grown up, I’ve got my morals. I live my life a certain way and I feel like when our little girl comes along, she’ll most definitely be brought up the way I’ve been brought up; the old fashioned way, the right way,” Tommy says. While it’s clear Molly-Mae agrees with raising Bambi to be family-orientated and know right from wrong, there seems to have been the occasional clash around education. “With Tommy obviously being a Traveller, he has had conversations with me about our child not going to school which is absolutely non-optional,” Molly-Mae says. “I’ve been raised completely differently to that, it would never be a question that our children or child would not go to school, but hopefully it won’t cause too many rifts.”
Fortunately, they have a few years to wait before Bambi is at the age of education debate. In the meantime, the couple are busy planning their wedding, which Molly-Mae revealed will be in the UK. As well as filling fans in on her engagement story, she has also been getting real about her postpartum body and how it’s taking time to feel confident again. As the family continue to put their lives in the spotlight, we have a feeling there’s lots more to come from the Fury household.
