This month, we’re living for Anya Taylor-Joy. She’s been out and about promoting her latest role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and what can we say? She’s mothering the house down, and we’re loving every minute of it! In fact, we recently had the opportunity to speak to her in person ahead of the release of Furiosa, and if you’re wondering what she’s like in person, the answer is: magical, ethereal, soothing, incredible, everything you’d want and more.

To celebrate Anya Taylor-Joy and everything we love about her, we’ve compiled some of her best fashion moments, and our five favourite performances of hers before Furiosa. Meanwhile, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is in cinemas now, and you can buy tickets here.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s Best Fashion Moments

Whittling down Anya Taylor-Joy’s best fashion looks is no easy feat, because when she hits the carpet, she’s going to deliver a LOOK. Over the years, Anya has developed a penchant for reflecting her latest roles on the red carpet. For example, Anya has recently been wearing a lot of head pieces, a lot of leather, and edgy, structured looks to promote Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, while her Last Night in Soho looks were all about vintage 1960s glamour — a reflection of the time the film is set in.

Over the years, Anya has become well-known for her bold, eclectic and elevated looks. Whether she’s channelling vintage, old-Hollywood glamour or dabbling in high-fashion gothic influences, she’s not one to shy away from a show-stopping fashion moment. Her style often incorporates dark, moody colours, lace, and velvet fabrics, which gives her a unique, edgy twist that sets her apart from more conventional Hollywood fashionistas.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s Best Movie and TV Roles

The Witch

Directed by: Robert Eggers
Written by: Robert Eggers
Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie
Synopsis: A family in 1630s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession.
Where to watch: Rent on Prime Video

The Witch is often credited as being one of the first “elevated horror” films, and for good reason. The film is moody, atmospheric, and haunting, and relies on Anya’s performance — rather than jump scares — to really deliver. With its incredible cinematography and eerie soundscape, this is a film that will linger in your mind as you try to fall asleep!

Emma.

Directed by: Autumn de Wilde
Written by: Eleanor Catton, based on the novel by Jane Austen
Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Mia Goth
Synopsis: In 1800s England, a well meaning but selfish young woman meddles in the love lives of her friends.
Where to watch: Rent on Prime Video

Emma. is a film that should have gotten more attention, but unfortunately, it was released in March 2020. Aside from Anya’s stellar performance (which is one of her best), Emma. co-stars Mia Goth, making this a diabolical, double-billed Mother Off. Beyond that, this is also just absolutely gorgeous to watch. From the costumes to the sets and beyond, it’s just a great time.

Thoroughbreds

Directed by: Cory Finley
Written by: Cory Finley
Starring: Olivia Cooke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Anton Yelchin
Synopsis: Two upper-class teenage girls in suburban Connecticut rekindle their unlikely friendship after years of growing apart. Together, they hatch a plan to solve both of their problems-no matter what the cost.
Where to watch: Rent on Prime Video

If dark comedy is your thing, Thoroughbreds is the one for you. An instant cult classic, Thoroughbreds is an acerbic comedy-thriller that you’ll enjoy if you also like Heathers or maybe Ingrid Goes West.

The Menu

Directed by: Mark Mylod
Written by: Seth Reiss and Will Tracy
Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicholas Hoult
Synopsis: A young couple travels to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.
Where to watch: Streaming on Disney+

If you’re looking for a tense thriller with moments that will make you laugh, look no further than The Menu. A pitch-black satire about the exclusive (and pretentious) world of gastronomy, The Menu is a slick, sardonic and scathing.

The Queen’s Gambit

Created by: Scott Frank and Allan Scott
Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Chloe Pirrie, Bill Camp
Synopsis: Orphaned at the tender age of nine, prodigious introvert Beth Harmon discovers and masters the game of chess in 1960s USA. But child stardom comes at a price.
Where to watch: Streaming on Netflix

Whether you love chess or don’t know the first thing about it, The Queen’s Gambit has something for you. Anya delivers one of her fiercest performances to date, and the show depicts the chess tournaments with the excitement and energy of a photo-finish race.
