Warner Bros. Games and Player First Games have revealed what’s coming in MultiVersus season 1, and there are some pretty exciting additions.
Rick and Morty are joining the roster, and while we don’t know their special moves yet, we do know that Rick will be a ranged Mage and Morty will be a Bruiser. They’ll bring the total number of characters up to 19, joining LeBron James, Velma, Batman and Harley Quinn, and there are apparently more being added in season 1.
New skins for existing characters are also being added, including LeBron James as Robin and Bugs Bunny as Valkyrie Brünnhilde.
Perhaps most exciting, though, is a classic arcade game mode, which dataminers have already figured out lots about. We will (presumably) be able to play it either co-op or solo on easy, medium or hard difficulty, and there’ll be up to 10 stages to progress through. Given the random assortment of characters in MultiVersus, a coherent story mode would be almost impossible, so this is probably as close as we’ll get to a campaign.
A ranked mode is also being added so you can compete against other players to climb the ranks.
There’s still no release date for MultiVersus season 1, but we should be hearing more about it “very soon”. MultiVersus is free to play on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
