If you’re feeling a little worse for wear because MasterChef Australia is coming to an end, then I have some news that will add a pep to your step.
My Kitchen Rules is back after a long hiatus, and conspiracy theorist Pete Evans is being replaced by domestic goddess Nigella Lawson.
Yup, not only are we getting the brilliant Manu Feildel asking, “where’s the sauce?” but we have posh legend Lawson sitting right beside him, providing feedback in her special way.
I don’t know about you, but I’m truly looking forward to seeing her react to the petty dinner party drama. Will she tell them to simmer down, or will she join in and call someone a w**ker in true British fashion? Who knows.
Although, as much as I hope to see Lawson absolutely lose the plot, I doubt that will ever happen; she’s far too refined for that.
When it comes to the upcoming season, we don’t have to speculate too much, because Channel 7 dropped a trailer featuring Lawson, and it’s already looking promising.
“I’m in Australia because Australian cooking is very much like the Australian character,” she’s heard saying in the clip.
“Full of life, unpretentious, fresh and direct. And I love that!”
At the end of the day, it isn’t the Nigella Lawson show (sadly), which is why we see some cinematic shots of the food that the judges will be devouring this season and um … can we switch jobs, please?
“For me, the story of food is the story of home cooking,” she says in the background.
We then see Manu’s piece-to-camera, where he hypes up the upcoming season in his smooth French accent.
Look, we’re not entirely sure how MKR managed to sign on THE Nigella Lawson, but we’re not complaining.
My Kitchen Rules premieres at 7.00pm on Sunday, 7 August, only on Channel 7 and 7plus.
