On Sunday’s (April 25) episode of MasterChef Australia 2021, British chef and food writer Nigella Lawson will make her fourth appearance on the cooking competition — albeit virtually — to serve up an exciting challenge for the contestants.
There are a million reasons why we love Lawson, not least becasue she has the best attitude when it comes to food and body positivity — reminding us all that having fun is always more important than being perfect.
“For a lot of people, but particularly for women, there’s so much policing over what they should eat, how they should approach themselves, and persecuting yourself for eating something you like.
“Because if you say, ‘It’s my guilty pleasure,’ to me, it implies that you feel I don’t deserve that or I shouldn’t be doing that,” Lawson told Harpers Bazaar recently.
“Food is such a pure pleasure, and I feel life offers pleasure, then it offers difficulties. You need to try and make the most of those pleasures.”
Obviously we couldn’t agree more.
Now 61, Lawson has been gracing our television screens since 1999 when she launched her first cooking series, Nigella Bites. Several shows, a hilarious pronunciation of “microwave” and numerous cookbooks later, Lawson is undoubtedly a one-woman empire and a seriously inspiring one at that.
The beloved Brit’s latest cookbook Cook, Eat, Repeat, is a collection of her favourite comfort recipes and was completed during her pandemic induced isolation, proving that she truly is all of us because who didn’t need some comfort eats during the nightmare that was 2020?
And, as if all of the above wasn’t enough to make you fall madly in love this approachable mother-of-two…she is also self-taught and has developed her signature style of down-to-earth, easy to make food without any formal training.
