When Nina Twine first appeared on Australian Survivor: Blood Vs Water she suffered an unfortunate fate after she fractured her ankle during a reward challenge and had to retire. But she came back, stronger than ever, to give it another crack this season in Australian Survivor: Heroes Vs Villains before having her torched snuffed as the 19th contestant booted from the game. Quite the comeback story if you ask us!
In an interview with POPSUGAR Australia, the 25-year-old from Florida opened up about her journey throughout Australian Survivor and how her story came to an end.
“I was snuffed, which isn’t fun,” she said. “But I’d rather that than to be taken out with an injury and forced out of the game.”
In last night’s episode, her luck ran out when the ever-powerful George flipped his vote from Matt to Nina, which sparked her elimination.
Making it to the final episodes of Survivor is an incredible achievement but something tells us she’s hungry to finish what she started.
“Everybody goes in it to win, right,” she said. “But if I’m not going to win, I at least want to go as far as I possibly can.”
So will she be back on Australian Survivor to go all the way?
“Oh my god, I would always come back,” she said. “You guys have done nothing but welcome me with open arms. So how can I not come back?”
It sounds like Survivor blood runs just as strong in her veins as it does with her mother Sandra Diaz-Twine, a legend of the game who has appeared in multiple seasons of US Survivor, even taking out the win during Heroes Vs Villains. Before returning to Australian Survivor, Nina wanted to make sure she honoured her mother’s legacy while also writing her own story.
“I do (feel proud),” she said. “I feel like my game has come full circle.”
We think this is just the beginning of what Nina will go on to achieve in the Survivor world and beyond. Go, queen.
