Olivia Rogers has opened up about battling with depression and anxiety following her split from ex-husband Justin McKeone in October 2022.
The pair called it quits just eight months after they wed and Olivia has remained tight-lipped over why her marriage ended. But while hosting an Instagram Q&A on Tuesday, she opened up about the impact the split has had on her mental health.
After prompting her 201,000 social media followers to “ask away”, the model shared that she had been struggling post break-up, but is now in better spirits.
“I truly am happy right now, I feel a sense of calm and I feel content,’’ she wrote on her story.
“I don’t think I realised just how depressed and anxious I was last year when I was in it, but now that the dust has settled, I feel like this fog has lifted and I feel so much better.
“It’s probably the first time that I’ve been single and I’ve really taken the time to work on myself and focus on what I actually want & need in my life.”
Olivia and Justin married in February 2022, before separating in October. The Melbourne couple had been together more than four years before they got engaged in 2019, and had a delayed wedding due to the COVID pandemic.
At the time, Olivia said she had “made the difficult decision to separate as a couple”, but shared no reasoning behind it. And now, even months following the shock news, the model re-posted to her Instagram stories how many questions she’s still being inundated with about it now.
“This is tricky to navigate as the relationship breakdown involves two of us,” she wrote.
“I share a lot online, but I have also always kept boundaries around certain topics. I need to protect myself and other people in my life so I will share only what I feel comfortable with,” Olivia continued.
“I totally understand the curiosity and I hope people can understand this.”
Olivia has also been transparent about seeing a psychologist after her marriage ended, which she says has been “really good” after the break-up.
“Just finished my first psych session for the year because obviously I have been travelling a lot been on holidays… We’ve been working on important things,” she previously told her Instagram followers.
“Even if you’re feeling good. It’s great to work through old stuff as well. There’s no shame in seeking support.”
POPSUGAR Australia has reached out to Olivia for comment but has not heard back at the time of publication.
