The 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Feb. 26 were a “Parks and Recreation” superfan’s dream.
No one thought when they tuned in to watch the SAGs red carpet that they’d see the hit NBC show’s stars Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza walking together. The comedic duo played polar opposites Leslie Knope and April Ludgate on the show, but they were definitely on the same page as they held hands while posing for photographers.
Later on in the night, Adam Scott joined in on the “Parks and Recreation” nostalgia when he and Poehler presented the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series. Poehler got the opportunity to poke fun at her former onscreen husband for moving into dramatic acting (he was nominated for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series).
“Before we start, I just want to say I’m thrilled to be here,” Scott said when the pair reached the podium. “Yeah, well, it’s pretty hard to tell, Adam. You’re on a hit drama, so you’re very dramatic now,” Poehler joked sarcastically, to which Scott responded (dramatically), “How dare you, Amy!”
Plaza, who was nominated for outstanding drama series ensemble along with the rest of “The White Lotus”‘s season two cast, even got to revisit her deadpan role of April when she presented an award with Jenna Ortega, who embodies a fellow deadpan character, Wednesday Addams.
