Netflix’s “Raising Dion” returns for its second season in February, and based on the trailer, it’ll be action-packed with new allies and old enemies throwing ten-year-old Dion (Ja’Siah Young) for a loop.
The Michael B. Jordan-produced coming-of-age series – based on Dennis Liu’s 2015 comic book and short film – will continue to follow Dion as he gets the hang of his superpowers with some help from his new Biona trainer/mentor Tevin (Rome Flynn), as well as the Triangle of Justice, made up of his friends Esperanza (Sammi Haney) and Jonathan (Gavin Munn).
It’s been over two years since the show first premiered on Netflix, meaning it’s also been awhile since we’ve seen Dion and his special powers in action. In season one, he was just a regular eight-year-old kid trying to wrap his head around his newfound superhuman abilities, but by the end of it, he finally masters his wide range of skills. In case you forgot, here’s a quick refresher on everything Dion’s capable of.
What Are Dion’s Superpowers on “Raising Dion?”
Dion gets his supernatural powers from his father, Mark Warren (Michael B. Jordan), who obtained his own after witnessing an Aurora event in Iceland. When Dion’s abilities are first revealed in season one, he discovers that he has the power of telekinesis – allowing him to move objects around with his mind. This power is the main one he utilises – as the self-proclaimed “Mind Mover” – but it’s also one of the more challenging ones for him to control. In addition to this, Dion can also make himself invisible and teleport anywhere he pleases, but the latter power often gets him into trouble since it’s so unpredictable.
The latest power he’s discovered is his ability to heal living things, as seen in episode seven of season one. The show’s main antagonist Pat (Jason Ritter), aka The Crooked Man, tries to take advantage of this particular power in the finale to help rid himself of the evil entity that’s taken over his life. It’s unclear if Dion will discover more powers in the future, but more abilities can only mean more villains after him.
Season two of “Raising Dion” will premiere on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
