On Sunday night, we kicked off the 2021 season of Farmer Wants a Wife with a bang, and today, we’re getting to know the women each farmer will be taking back to his farm.

Here’s how it worked: Each of our five farmers first selected eight women from the thousands of applications, who were then all brought to the stunning Convent hotel in the Hunter Valley. Then, each farmer got to meet his eight potential loves, from which he selected five women to invite back to his farm and to get to know them better. The other three, sadly, were sent packing.

Farmer Rob is a 40-year-old sheep and cattle farmer from the Snowy Mountains, and although he’s experienced love before, he’s never been married.

“The thought of being able to call someone my wife puts a smile on my face because I’ve never been able to do that,” he shares. “In my previous relationship we had two beautiful children together, but never got around to getting married.”

Being a dad of two already doesn’t mean that more kids are off the table, though. If Rob met The One, he’d be open to the idea.

Rob says that trying to date while living on the farm can be tricky for a couple of reasons. First, you’re isolated, and second, “the women around you are married to your friends”! Certainly not ideal circumstances.

“The kind of woman who would come out to live on the farm here, she’d have to be a strong, confident person who loves an adventure,” he says.

So let’s meet the women who are vying for the wifey title.

Jodi, 44

A fun fact: Jodi believes she and Rob would be compatible because they’re both so independent.

“I know what I want and am willing to go to any lengths to find a great relationship,” she says.

Kate, 35

A fun fact: Kate’s a social worker from Queensland and is happy Rob is open to having more kids because she “comes in a package of three”. After the end of her marriage, she’s looking now for her fairytale romance.

“I have never been with someone romantic,” she says. “I see it on television
and see it happen to others around me but never to me.”

Luce, 36

A fun fact: After prioritising “learning and travelling” for years, Luce is “ready now” to settle down.

“Finding love is important to me because it would make my full, happy life all that much better,” she says.

Meg, 35

A fun fact: With everyone around her “married, engaged, pregnant, parents or even divorced and loved up again”, Meg’s “never been more ready” to find love for herself.

“I want the farm life, and I’m willing to get in and get dirty,” she says.

Shannon, 45

A fun fact: Shannon is a forensic criminologist, and up until now, her life has “revolved around study, career, criminals, murderers and those that work in the criminology field”.

“I’ve found that relationships with those in my field aren’t good for home life,” she says. “This option of dating seems more fitting for me.”

Farmer Wants a Wife airs on Sundays at 7pm, and then Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7 Plus.
