Summer is finally here, and with the warmer months come the early risers. If you’re going to do a 4:30am wake up, you may as well get those endorphins going with a beautiful sunrise. That’s exactly why we joined forces with NIVEA to take over one of Sydney’s most popular run clubs.
Cronulla’s Strava Sharks have amassed huge numbers, with crowds of people waking up at the crack of dawn every Friday to not only exercise, but embrace their community. Run clubs are as much about finding connection through shared experience as it is about working out.
But, regardless of why you’re participating in a run club, one thing remains the same: if you’re working out in the sun, you need to put on sunscreen. Thanks to NIVEA, everyone who ran as part of this special collaboration was hooked up with NIVEA Sun Protect and Moisture SPF50+ Sunscreen Lotion and UV Face Shine Control Sunscreen. That way, everyone could aim for their PBs while also being sun smart.
When you’re on a run, the last thing you need is to be held back by the sticky feeling some sunscreen can leave you with. Luckily, with NIVEA, each of the Strava Sharks were left with no greasy feeling so they could focus on smashing their goals. It offers broad spectrum protection and is dermatologically tested for all skin-types — it’s for everyone.
But, while the Sharks were lathering up before embarking on their 6km run as the sun started beaming, we tasked some of the runners with some burning trivia all about sunscreen, with questions like:
True or false: The higher the SPF, the longer you can stay out in the sun without reapplying sunscreen? (False)
True or false: You don’t need sunscreen in the shade whilst outdoors, or on a cloudy day? (False)
How long before you go outside should you apply sunscreen? (20 minutes)
Reckon you can keep up with the Strava Sharks, who were chasing that running high while answering sun safety questions? Watch the video below to find out.
As the Sharks rounded the corner and the finish line in sight, the runners were given NIVEA bags stacked with bottles of NIVEA Sun Protect and Moisture SPF50+ Sunscreen Lotion and UV Face Shine Control Sunscreen to keep them sun smart throughout the rest of the day.
To top it all off, the Sharks crowded at the local cafe for a well-deserved coffee as the sun continued to rise over the beach behind them.
Big thanks to the Strava Sharks for letting POPSUGAR Australia and NIVEA take over their run club, and huge thanks to NIVEA for helping to keep all Australians sun smart and summer ready.
Always read the label and follow the directions for use. Sunscreens are only one part of sun protection. Avoid prolonged high-risk sun exposure. Reapply frequently.
