Bloody Hell! Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Have Been Dating For Longer Than We Realized

According to an October 2018 interview Rupert did with the Evening Standard, the couple started dating sometime in 2011, as the interviewer mentioned Rupert’s “girlfriend of seven years, actress Georgia Groome.” For reference, that means Rupert and Georgia got together right around the time that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II was released and about three years after the premiere of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.

Apparently, the “on-again off-again” couple took a break at some point, though it’s unclear when or for how long. In March 2017, the Daily Mail reported that the exes were seen having dinner at Craig’s in West Hollywood, which possibly meant they were getting back together. A little over a week later, Rupert and Georgia were seen together once again, this time in NYC’s Soho neighborhood.

When Rupert was filming the second season of Crackle’s crime-comedy series Snatch in Spain, his “proud girlfriend” was spotted visiting the set for a day and watching her boo in action.

The notoriously elusive couple has been spotted out and about only a handful of times, but they made a rare red carpet appearance in September 2018 at the Dinard Festival of British Cinema in France (though, predictably, they didn’t pose for any pics together).

Even after seven years of dating, a viral tweet proved that very few people had any idea that Rupert and Georgia’s relationship existed. In November 2018, a fan shared a throwback pic of the two stars looking cozy and tweeted, “I was today years old when I found out Georgia from Angus, thongs and perfect snogging has been going out with Ron Weasley since 2011 ????” Considering the tweet got well over 20,000 likes and 5,000 retweets, that fan wasn’t the only one surprised by the news.

Soon after his 30th birthday, Rupert revealed to The Guardian that he could see himself starting a family in the near future. “Turning 30 felt strange,” he said. “It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.” Sadly, it doesn’t seem as though “Ron” will ever be considered as a potential boy’s name. “It’s quite a good name,” he added, “but probably not.”

While hanging out and getting lunch with two friends in Highgate, London, Rupert and Georgia were photographed wearing matching wedding bands – or so it appeared. Georgia wore a gold band on that finger, but Rupert’s own band was worn on the middle finger of his right hand, and a rep for the actor denied the possibility of a secret wedding.

A year after sparking marriage rumors, Rupert and Georgia inspired a new rumor – only this time, that rumor was confirmed. Soon after Georgia was seen strolling in London with Rupert and a conspicuous baby bump, a rep for the couple announced to E! News that the two are expecting their first child. “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time,” the April 10 statement read. Congrats to the parents-to-be!
