It’s been a big month of reality television. Married At First Sight has well and truly blown up, Australian Survivor has had more betrayals than we can count and SAS Australia has been so nail-biting that our manicurist is sending us hate mail.
But all good things must come to an end, and next week we’re saying goodbye to SAS Australia. This year, 17 Aussie personalities embarked on a life-altering experience, where former SAS soldiers subjected them to physical and psychological tests from the real SAS selection process. Completely cut off from the outside world, the recruits were pushed beyond their limits, and now, only five remain.
Some quit the course in the very first episode, while others gave it their all until they couldn’t take any more. Currently remaining is Darius Boyd, Locky Gilbert, Melissa Wu, Millie Boyle and Riana Crehan and can we just say: Girl power!
SAS Australia is no walk in the park. You could say it’s one of the toughest television shows on air at the moment. This year, the recruits have been set on fire, former Bachelor star Anna Heinrich suffered from hypothermia and nearly all of the contestants have endured bruises all over their bodies.
While we’re not sure why anyone would voluntarily subject themselves to such extreme challenges, one thing is for sure, the celebs come out a different person.
Guiding them throughout the season is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and Directing Staff Ollie Ollerton. And for the first time, retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott joined them.
So, When Is the SAS Australia Finale?
This coming Monday (March 28) marks the final 48 hours of SAS selection, where the recruits are required to gather all their strengths for an ice-pit plunge and a trek through dense mangroves.
Whoever survives will make their way into the final which is set to air on Tuesday, March 29 on Channel 7.
The SAS Australia Grand Finale airs Tuesday, March 29 at 7.30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.
