Snoop Dogg’s wife, Shante Broadus, may be a little less well-known than her famous husband, but she’s an accomplished woman in her own right. Broadus and Snoop share three kids and have been together since they were classmates at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. “I had to go over there and meet her mother,” Snoop told VladTV back in 2018, recalling their courtship. “I had to go over there and date her for, like, four months before I was able to kiss her. I had to call her on the phone. I had to write love letters.”
Broadus is the founder of Boss Lady Entertainment, which is, among other things, a label and a recording studio management company. In 2021, Broadus officially became Snoop’s manager, overseeing all of her husband’s businesses, from his cannabis line to his music, TV, and film projects, though that’s a role she’s held in an unofficial capacity for much longer. In a 2021 press release announcing his wife’s official position, Snoop said, “Shante has been guiding my career behind the scenes from day one. She has always been my final gut check with all my decisions, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without her. I am grateful to have her as my official manager, helping to build the Snoop Dogg empire together.”
Per W magazine, Broadus also works with the couple’s son Cordell and daughter, Cori, as they pursue music careers like their famous dad. In their professional lives, Broadus’s main concern seems to be protecting her husband’s ventures and ensuring they run smoothly. “It’s people out there that you can’t always trust. He knows that he can always trust me,” she told W magazine in 2021. “So he wanted the world to know he had his wife by his side, helping him. He wanted a strong female to lead. And of course, that’s me. I’m the boss lady.”
Broadus doubled down on her support for Snoop in another 2021 interview with Showbiz CheatSheet, saying in part: “We were friends first, and then we became parents. He’s a businessman but we hold it down together. I don’t think he could do this without me, to be honest. He couldn’t handle it. There’s too much going on.”
For his part, Snoop has been very open about his wife’s role in his life and the challenges they’ve overcome. “She’s always right,” Snoop told Queen Latifah in 2013. “Because you gotta understand the turmoil and stuff that I put her through, in my journey on becoming successful, because I had no understanding of how I was doing her, how I was hurting her, and how I was betraying myself, until I became a man and realized that I had to love this woman who loved me and had my kids, and put my life in perspective and let my music and my business be secondary.”
Though Snoop and Broadus briefly split in 2004 (the former told People in 2007 he filed for divorce after fame got to his head), they’ve kept their marriage going in the years since. Ahead, look back at some of the couple’s cutest photos through the years.
