After months of waiting, we were starting to wonder if we’d ever see the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, but now that we have, we have a lot of questions. On Monday, Marvel Studios dropped the first look at the upcoming film, which sees Peter Parker (Tom Holland) take on his biggest adventure yet. There has been so much secrecy around the movie – including the plot and the potential return of former Spider-Man stars like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – and while the short teaser does confirm the film’s multiverse storyline, there are tons of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments that could be teasing much bigger storylines. As we patiently wait for the film to hit theaters on Dec. 17, read ahead for the biggest questions on our minds after watching the trailer.

Is Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
Though the shot of Peter Parker in the police station is brief, fans think the person who slams down a stack of folders on the desk is actually Matt Murdock from Netflix’s Daredevil series. Could this be Marvel’s way of crossing over the Netflix shows and the MCU films?

Why Is the Sanctum Sanctorum Covered in Ice and Snow?
For some reason, when we see Doctor Strange in the Sanctum Sanctorum, it’s completely covered in ice. While some fans online quickly made cheeky references to Frozen, others wondered if it could be a huge clue that this Doctor Strange is actually Mephisto. After all, in the comics, Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to make everyone forget he’s Spider-Man in order to save his Aunt May.

Is That Blurry Figure Venom or Lizard?
At the 2:26 mark, we get a quick shot of something jumping out at Peter, which has sparked a big debate online. While some think it could be Lizard, aka Dr. Curt Connors from Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man, others think it could be Venom from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 3. There’s also a good chance this film will connect Tom Hardy’s stand-alone Venom film.

Is Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin Returning?
At one point in the trailer, we see one of the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs before hearing a maniacal laugh from what appears to be actor Willem Dafoe, who played the character in Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man films. Though Marvel hasn’t officially revealed the actor is in the film, the trailer certainly insinuates he will be making a cameo.

Which Peter Parker Is Doc Ock Really Talking To?
In one of the final moments of the trailer, Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock makes a quick appearance as he addresses Peter. However, fans aren’t entirely convinced he’s talking to Tom Holland’s Peter. Instead, they think this is Marvel’s way of confirming Tobey Maguire’s return as Spider-Man.

Will There Be a Sinister Six Team-Up?
In addition to a cameo from Doc Ock and a subtle appearance from the Green Goblin, the trailer seems to tease a few more big villains, including Jamie Foxx’s Electro (who has already been confirmed to return) with the lightning bolt and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman with all the sand. Is Spider-Man: No Way Home setting up a Sinister Six team-up?

Who Really Unleashed the Multiverse?
Following the events of WandaVision and Loki, we were led to believe that Wanda and Loki play a big role in messing up the timeline and unleashing the multiverse, but the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer teases that Doctor Strange really messes things up when he casts a spell for Peter Parker. It’s even being speculated that the events of all three titles actually happen simultaneously.
