Timothee Chalamet as Wonka

Everyone has a favourite Wonka. You either love Gene Wilder’s version of the famous candyman or Johnny Depp. But now, there’s a third to look out for: Timothee Chalamet.

Speaking of the 25-year-old, he gave fans a first look at his upcoming movie Wonka. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the Dune star shared a photo of himself on set, dressed in Willy Wonka’s iconic top hat and topcoat.

“The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last …WONKA,” he captioned the photo. He also went on to share a photo of Wonka’s cane, which had a purple and red present sitting on top.

Earlier this year, it was revealed Chalamet was set to play young Willy Wonka in the adaptation of Roald Dahl’s children’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The film, which is set to premiere in 2023, will see the actor take part in musical numbers, similar to the original 1971 movie.

Wonka will dive into the life of the chocolatier before he opened his factory and will be directed by Paddington’s Paul King and produced by Harry Potter’s David Heyman.
