Abbie Chatfield has shared the possible reasons as to why Jimmy Nicholson’s season of The Bachelor flopped in ratings this year.
The 26-year-old, who was the runner up on Matt Agnew’s season, was asked to address the low ratings on Hit Hobart’s Jimmy and Nath on Tuesday.
According to her, Jimmy isn’t the reason for the show’s low ratings, instead, she blamed the contestants.
“If I’m being honest – Channel 10 might kill me for this – but maybe it’s [because] the casting process was ruined by COVID,” she said.
“I think it’s all by Zoom. Maybe it’s the casting of the contestants.”
She went on to say the show was “slow to start”, which most likely caused the dip in viewership.
Last week, Channel 10 denied claims The Bachelor was being cancelled despite recording the lowest ratings in the franchise’s eight-year history.
One episode was only watched by 360,000 viewers earlier in the month.
Channel 10 has begun airing back-to-back episodes since last Thursday, and there is speculation that the network is trying to end the series as soon as possible.
The network has firmly denied those claims, stating the show was always scheduled to air two episodes one after the other during those time slots.
