Who’s Who on The Bachelorette? Meet Jess the Intruder

On tonight’s (October 28) episode of The Bachelorette, four intruders will be making their way into the mansion. As they attempt to make an impression on Brooke Blurton, the original contestants are going to start feeling the heat.

Jess is one of the four intruders, and she has her sights set on the 26-year-old. Passionate about LGBTQ+ representation, the 28-year-old told 10play that she applied for the show hoping to “find love with the first-ever queer Bachelorette, Brooke!”

But just because she’s interested doesn’t mean she is unaware of her needs and wants, saying her biggest dealbreaker in a relationship is, “Someone who doesn’t appreciate a good female power ballad.”

Jess thinks she and Brooke will make the perfect match, saying she’s incredibly passionate about using her privilege to make an impact. “As an out lesbian in the corporate space, I try to educate others about queer women’s issues.”

The HR consultant, who is originally from Adelaide but relocated to Melbourne to help further her career, told Adelaide Now that she loved Brooke’s “energy” when she saw her on Honey Badger’s season of The Bachelor.

“She lived up to what you expected,” she said about their face-to-face meeting. While she doesn’t consider herself a natural in front of the camera, she acknowledges just how important it is to shine a light on the queer community.

“I shy away from the limelight … but it’s really important to represent the lesbian, queer community,” Jessica says. “I fly under the radar but the show is bigger … you can’t be what you can’t see.”

Brooke is the first Indigenous and pansexual Bachelorette the franchise has ever seen, and in a move that has never been done before, the contestants on this year’s season are a mix of men and women.

From a former contestant on The Bachelor to a carpenter who can build a bench in a few minutes, the latest season of the show is definitely going to be an interesting one.

The Bachelorette Australia airs at 7.30pm every Wednesday and Thursday on Channel 10 and 10play.
