It feels like only yesterday Anastacia was unmasked and crowned the winner of The Masked Singer Australia. Her character, Vampire, made it to the very end as it entertained viewers with its remarkable vocals and smooth moves.
Now, television’s most bizarre reality show is returning, and while we don’t exactly know when, Channel 10 have revealed the first set of characters for the upcoming season.
Fresh out of the incredible imagination of Oscar, BAFTA and AFI-winning costume designer Tim Chappel, this year, our favourite celebs will be hidden behind some of the wackiest costumes to date.
The first three characters to be revealed are Mirrorball, Zombie and Thong, and spoiler alert, one of them is downright creepy (it’s Zombie).
Joining veteran judge Dave Hughes will be an almost entirely new panel featuring Mel B, Chrissie Swan and Abbie Chatfield.
The three of them will be replacing Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, Urzila Carlson and Dannii Minogue.
Excited about her new venture, Mel B said, “Hello Australia. I have missed you so much but I am back and I can’t wait to get the party started with Hughesy, Abbie and Chrissie. Let me tell you though, I am the best-ever game player and I have something up my sleeve that none of these guys have … I’ve hidden behind these masks as a competitor not once but twice.
“So I’m bringing all my secret inside knowledge to this. But more to the point, I’m bringing the fun. Fasten your seatbelts everyone, it’s going to be a rollercoaster ride,” the Spice Girls star added.
Abbie Chatfield also released a statement, adding: “I am thrilled to be joining the panel! I’m the first to say I can be competitive and I’m so ready to put my pop culture knowledge to the test and guess who is under the mask. Bring on the clues!”
So, without further ado, let’s get to know the first three characters from The Masked Singer Australia.
Mirrorball is ready to spin their way onto The Masked Singer Australia stage — but will they reflect the celeb under the mask?
Zombie joins us from beyond the grave. Typically, zombies are dead and slow, but rest assured our Zombie will put on a lively performance! It’s a no-brainer!
And move over Pavlova, because there’s a new Aussie icon stepping up this season! The iconic double plugger, Thong! Will they flip or will they flop?
The Masked Singer Australia is coming soon to Channel 10 and 10Play.
