Imagine Cluedo, but in real life. Sounds like my childhood fantasy, TBH. But for 24 players, this will be their reality; as they participate in Channel 10’s newest game show: The Traitors.
The Traitors sees a group of 24 players, also known as Faithfuls, live together in a grand old hotel where they will need to have their wits about them as they carry out challenges in order to win silver bars, contributing to a prize pool of silver worth up to $250,000.
They’ll also need to figure out which, among them, are actually Traitors.
Stakes are high, because if a Traitor makes it to the end undetected, they get to walk away with the lot. If a Faithful can successfully unmask a Traitor, however, and get rid of them before the final vote, they have the option to take all the prize money or split and share it with their final remaining Faithful.
If anyone is going to be in tune which who is a Traitor or a Faithful, it’s clairvoyant Chloe. She knows her unique skill set is one that can work in her favour in finding out who people really are.
Phew! Okay. So, who are the players competing on The Traitors? One of them is 57-year-old business coach, Craig, from Queensland.
Craig believes his career experience sets him up in good stead for The Traitors.
He’s worked with many high-profile clients and celebrities, and his job has sent him all over the world.
“I’m perfect for The Traitors because it’s not just my business experience but I have a background in body language and non-verbal communication,” he says in a press statement.
“I don’t want them to know I’m an expert at body language but I often wear my emotions on my face so I will have to watch that.”
Fiercely competitive, especially when it comes to Monopoly (I wonder if he ever played Cluedo?), Craig likes to test himself to see how far he can go and how far he can push himself.
Not afraid to be chosen as a Traitor, Craig does worry his empathetic side might come out and give his game away. But, if he’s a Faithful, he feels his ability to read body language will help him uncover who they are.
“I’ll be looking for signs of deception and they might be able to hide it in their words but their bodies will tell me a different story.
“We’re extremely readable, we have no idea how much we give away and
often we will see something that’s not quite right but we’ll tend to ignore it or justify it. So I’ll be paying close attention in this game.”
Will Craig be able to use his people-reading skills to get all the way to the end? Tune in to The Traitors, premiering on Sunday, October 16 on 10 and 10play to find out.
