9 Streaming Series to Binge Once You've Blown Through Sex Education Season 3

After binge-watching the third season of Sex Education, you may be wondering . . . what now? Sex Education is easily one of the best shows out there right now – it’s hilarious and insightful, and it really delves into topics that other shows have been too shy to approach. Not only is there amazing representation of various sexual orientations on the show, but they’re portrayed by a truly effervescent, dynamic, and diverse cast. We’re definitely hoping for a season four, but in the meantime, check out this list of nine shows that are similar to Sex Education.

The End of the F***ing World

If you love quirky British teen dramas, then you’ll definitely love The End of the F***ing World. Two troubled teens, Alyssa and James, decide to run away together, and plenty of chaos ensues. Like Sex Education, the show focuses on absent parents and difficult family situations as well. Oh, and James spends much of the first season contemplating whether or not he’s a psychopath, and whether or not he should kill Alyssa. It sounds dark, but somehow the show still manages quite a bit of humour.

AJ And The Queen

AJ And The Queen stars Ru Paul Charles (of Ru Paul’s Drag Race) as a drag queen, Ruby Red, who embarks on a cross-country road trip in an old RV. When a quick-witted 10-year-old sneaks into the RV, an unlikely friendship and bond forges between the two – similar to the unexpected (but heartwarming) friendships we saw form in season two of Sex Education.

Easy

Easy is an anthology series that follows various Chicago residents as they navigate love and relationships, and more specifically, sex. Like Sex Education, Easy portrays people of all relationship statuses and sexual orientations as they attempt to find happiness and fulfilment. Topics include open marriages, threesomes, promiscuity, double standards, sex work, and much more. If you love how Sex Education balances humour with insightful, poignant moments, then you’ll appreciate it in Easy as well.

How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)

As the title may suggest, How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) is a wild ride. It tells the story of Moritz, a nerdy teen who starts selling drugs online to win back the affections of his girlfriend. The scheme gets out of control, and before he knows it, Moritz is one of the biggest dealers in all of Europe. If you love the coming-of-age element of Sex Education, then you’ll probably like this offbeat German comedy, too.

Orange Is the New Black

Yes, Orange Is The New Black is one of Netflix’s oldest original series, but it really is a wonderful show. The show first focuses on Piper, a wealthy woman who goes to prison for crimes that have finally caught up to her. As the story develops, we meet other inmates at Piper’s prison and learn hard truths about (in)justice, relationships, betrayal, and so much more. If you loved Sex Education for the tough social taboos that it tackled, then you may like Orange Is The New Black for similar reasons.

Looking For Alaska

Based on the John Green novel, Looking For Alaska follows teenagers at a summer camp who think they know a little bit more about life, love, and relationships than they actually do. Sound familiar? Looking For Alaska has plenty of whimsical, wanderlust-type moments and has coming-of-age elements that may also remind you of Sex Education.

Never Have I Ever

Like Sex Education, Never Have I Ever portrays teenagers who are navigating a world of relationships, sex, partying, and so much more. Episodes range from hilarious and witty to dramatic – an emotional roller coaster, just like Sex Education.

Fleabag

While Fleabag isn’t a teenage comedy, it’s similar to Sex Education in its humour and wit. Fleabag is extremely raunchy, but in a way that’s so well executed by the actors and so incredibly hilarious. Oh, and if you love British settings – Fleabag takes place in London!

Everything Sucks!

If you love the quirky elements of Sex Education, then you may enjoy Everything Sucks!, too. The show takes place in mid-90s America, as a group of misfit teenagers band together to make a film to air to the whole school. The show deals with themes of rejection, absent parents, and blossoming sexuality — all themes that are apparent within Sex Education as well.
