13 Shows Like “You” to Watch While Waiting for Season 4, Part 2
Netflix did not disappoint with the season four return of its hit show “You.” The series follows Joe Goldberg as he uses his “love” for different women to excuse more and more extreme measures . . . including multiple murders. While season four sees Joe diverge from his usual modus operandi (he’s trying outrun his murderous past), he ultimately gets roped back into death and bloodshed when a new serial murderer called the Eat the Rich Killer turns up to torment his newfound affluent friends in London, England.
As thrilling as part one of season four was, the post-binge slump that follows is intense enough to drag you into Joe-level obsessing, and rewatching Penn Badgley scheme and stalk for the second time just isn’t as exciting. Considering you’ll have to wait until March 9 for “You” season four, part two to hit Netflix, here are 13 shows that have the same dangerous, suspenseful, and comical flair that “You” does so well.
Shows Like "You": "Ginny & Georgia"
Just like Joe Goldberg is willing to do just about anything to make his latest obsession fall love with him, in “Ginny & Georgia,” Georgia is a young mother willing to do anything to outrun her past and protect her children, Ginny and Austin. That includes moving from town to town, leaving a trail of lies – and even murder – in her wake.
Shows Like "You": "Only Murders in the Building"
“Only Murders in the Building” is about three residents of an Upper West Side apartment building obsessed with true crime murders, just like the ones Joe Goldberg regularly commits in “You.” The group starts a podcast as they attempt to solve a murder in their building, and they may get roped in as suspects as they pursue the culprit in this critically-acclaimed whodunit starring Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short.
Shows Like "You": "Big Little Lies"
If you love the suspense, humor, and scenic backdrop of “You,” “Big Little Lies” will rock your world. The women-dominated, star-studded HBO series has the perfect amount of wit, drama, and suspense that’ll have you clicking on the “Next Episode” button for hours on end.
Shows Like "You": "How to Get Away With Murder"
Joe Goldberg probably took Annalise Keating’s class in an alternate TV universe. The plot of Shonda Rhimes’s legal drama follows Viola Davis as a law professor and her colorful yet dysfunctional group of students as they deal with the fallout of a murder mystery.
Shows Like "You": "Dead to Me"
Much like “You” season two, Netflix’s “Dead to Me” is set in sunny California, which perfectly juxtaposes the dark humor and drama of its plot. The series, about a newly widowed mother sucked into a questionable friendship, also tackles themes of grief and guilt, making it a great new watch for fans.
Shows Like "You": "Revenge"
Emily Thorne gives Joe Goldberg a run for his money when it comes to murder skills, stalking expertise, and overall crazy. Much like “You” season one, the show is set in a prominent New York location; this time, though, it’s the Hamptons. And, just like Los Angeles informs the personalities of many of the characters on “You” season two, all the characters on “Revenge” have a well-to-do, preppy look, giving the show “You”-meets-“Gossip Girl” vibes.
Shows Like "You": "Pretty Little Liars"
While this show is basically a throwback at this point, it’s still a must-watch for fans of suspense shows. This ABC family classic has the right amount of hallway drama and dark, creepy stalking that will have you thinking, Guinevere Beck had it kind of easy – well, at least until the end. Watch as these five best friends navigate the ups and downs of teenage drama all while being stalked by an anonymous person who basically terrorizes them. We promise it’s a fun time.
Shows Like "You": "Killing Eve"
Here’s another attractive, charming serial killer to fall in love with. “Killing Eve” is right up the alley for “You “fans. If you found yourself rooting for Joe and Love, prepare to feel even more conflicted about Sandra Oh’s Eve and her love interest Villanelle.
Shows Like "You": "Dexter"
This Miami-set crime show follows Dexter Morgan as he solves murders and even commits some. Much like Joe Goldberg, Dexter Morgan tries to justify his many murders. Whereas Joe claims to kill out of love, Dexter claims to kill for the greater good.
Shows Like "You": "Riverdale"
Inspired by the “Archie Comics,” this popular CW drama follows the lives of the teenagers in a town seemingly plagued by murder and scandal. Between the intense crime scenes and the steamy love scenes, there’s something in this show for everyone.
Shows Like "You": "Money Heist"
This show may not be in English, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting wrapped up in the twisty plot of the Spanish crime series. Watch as eight people with special abilities plan and carry out an elaborate heist under the guidance of a criminal mastermind who goes by The Professor. Much like “You,” “Money Heist” involves taking several people hostage, which makes Joe Goldberg’s glass box look like a piece of cake.
Shows Like "You": "The Politician"
Netflix’s original show “The Politician” has just about everything you could want in a show: high-school drama, a mysterious death, an attractive cast, thrilling plot, and the occasional song break. It takes the whodunnit aspect of “You” to the next level.
Shows Like "You": "Gossip Girl"
Can’t get enough of Penn Badgley? “Gossip Girl” is the perfect way to get your fix. While lonely boy Dan Humphrey does his fair amount of stalking (mostly of Serena van der Woodsen), it’s nothing compared to what Joe Goldberg accomplishes when he puts on that baseball cap. “Gossip Girl” is less suspenseful than “You,” but it’s jam-packed with more than enough drama to keep you hooked. Not to mention, watching Penn Badgley obsess over two beautiful blondes is just good content overall.
