It might be time for Brendon Urie to panic about more than just disco as Twitter recently decided to crown him the ultimate scapegoat. On Jan. 4, Twitter user razziplier posted, “normalize blaming Brendon Urie for things he didn’t do.” It didn’t take long for Twitter to latch onto that way of thinking and soon Brendon was being blamed for everything from breaking up One Direction and making polar bears go extinct to the downfall of Adobe Flash and being the Zodiac Killer.
Does this mean now is the time to start blaming Brendon for things I did in my childhood? Absolutely. I’m sure my mom would love to hear about how the lead singer of Panic! At The Disco is the reason all of her sweaters shrunk after I did the laundry that one time. Brendon has yet to respond to the current trend; however, he has been quiet on Twitter since June, possibly due to allegations previously circulating on Twitter in August. The #BrendonUrieSpeakUp movement was in relation to sexual assault allegations and brought light to reported racist, misogynist, transphobic, and ableist comments Brendon made in the past.
