An Ex’s Shirt and Polaroids: The Unexpected Items The Bachie Girls Packed for the Mansion
The time has finally come, as we get ready for an extravagant date night, with love clearly in the air.
All through the telly of course.
Why, it’s The Bachelor premiere day! Season nine promises all the wine, cheese and romance as First Officer Jimmy Nicholson navigates the dating scene to find “The One”.
23 women fight it out to be the last woman standing, as they all hope to be the one to win over his heart.
But what fun would it be if POPSUGAR Australia didn’t give you the scoop on what goes on behind the scenes? We caught up with the leading ladies and asked what they took with them to The Bachelor mansion.
See their responses below, some of them are downright juicy!
The Bachelor Australia will premiere Wednesday, 21 July at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.
Sierah, 28, VIC
“A book – people are probably shocked to learn that I can actually read.”
Holly, 27, NSW
“I brought my ex-boyfriend’s old baggy t-shirt for fake tanning… that shirt transitioned from a grey marl to a distinct orange and is now no longer with us. RIP.”
Ashleigh, 28, VIC
“I took printed photos of myself in all my outfits so I could have outfit inspo without trying them on. It didn’t really work, I still ended up making a mess of the suitcases.”
Tahnee, 27, VIC
“I was overly prepared. I packed everything which for anyone who knows me that wouldn’t surprise them! I’m super organised and very forward-thinking so the fact I was prepared for just about anything isn’t surprising at all.”
Madison, 24, VIC
“My housemates surprised me with a box of polaroids and love letters for while I was in the mansion!”
Belinda, 29, QLD
“Handcuffs (………. my backup red carpet prop because I’m a criminal lawyer, settle down!)”
Laura, 28, SA
“I actually brought a bunch of GAMSAT study materials and a few textbooks in with me! I wanted to utilise any downtime I had to study for the GAMSAT, a big old exam you need to do to get into post grad medicine, which I’d really like to do!”
Carlie, 33, VIC
“Harry Potter books! I’m ashamed to say that I never read them as a kid so thought this was the perfect opportunity to relive a part of my childhood that I missed. And a bit of light-hearted fantasy was the perfect escape in the mansion, especially when you’re actually living a bizarre romantic comedy/drama!”
Stevie, 29, QLD
“I have a huge sweet tooth, so I took in quite a few blocks of chocolate and packets of Oreos. It is safe to say all the other girls were envious.”
Rebekah, 27, NSW
“I took a vintage Olympic shirt into the mansion and wore it on one of the first days. Some of the girls were convinced that I was an ex-Olympian.”
Ash, 34, QLD
“My first iPod. I got it back in 2006, still works perfectly & is full of old-school hip-hop jams on it. It was a real throwback in the mansion but was a great item to bring as I knew I couldn’t live without music.”
Hannah, 26, NSW
“I brought in History magazines on Ancient Greece and the Russian monarchy.”
Jay, 31, NSW
“A lot, lot of snacks! As a nutritionist, none that I would recommend to clients, but all delicious.
“In fact, a lot of my outfit choices had to be made based on size to be able to fit more snacks in my suitcase. Clearly, you can see my priorities in life.”
Chanel, 34, NSW
“Paolo Coelho’s novel – The Alchemist. It’s my favourite! I find it uplifting, especially when embarking on a new adventure, it reminds me to follow what my heart desires.”
Lauren, 29, SA
“I took in several historical fiction novels. What a lot of people don’t know about me is my passion for history and my love for the genre.”
Elena, 33, NSW
“I packed my Guitar which I played secretly in the cupboard because I get shy when people listen to me play.”
Annabelle, 28, NSW
“My massive anatomy and physiology textbook – for a bit of a study on the side.”
Jacinta, 29, VIC
“I didn’t bring anything out of the ordinary into the mansion. Just lots of books and a diary!”
