If you’re on a diet then look away now, because Channel Nine’s latest show is catering to those who enjoy snacking. In the new cook-off competition Snackmasters, Australia’s greatest chefs come together to try and complete this formidable challenge: To recreate the country’s most-loved snacks.
Premiering on Monday, November 29, the cook-off will feature the most famous chocolates and other delectable snacks such as Twisties, Cadbury’s Favourites, Drumstick and The Whopper.
But the ultimate task is to recreate these iconic foods so closely that people can’t tell them apart from the real thing. Aussies love to munch on their favourite sweet and savoury treats, but how they’re made is a heavily guarded secret — until now. Viewers will be given a front-row seat to see exactly how they’re created in a cooking challenge like no other.
Scott Picket and MasterChef Australia’s Poh Ling Yeow will be at the helm, hosting the show while the recreations will be judged by a jury from the snack-making factory itself.
Plus, viewers will be taken inside the factory to see exactly how their favourite snacks are made, with Gogglebox star Yvie Jones, investigating the secrets the companies have held on tight for many years.
Each episode will see two fine-dining chefs verse each other in a cook-off, where they will be tasked with making the perfect replica of a highly popular national snack.
The chef whose recipe is deemed the closest will take home the coveted Snack Trophy and be named Australia’s true Snackmaster.
The four-part special event will have your mouth watering.
Snackmasters premieres on Monday, November 29 at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
