SAS Australia is right around the corner, premiering on Monday, September 13.
18 celebrities will be pushed to their absolute limit as they face their fears and deal with intense physical and psychological tests.
Familiar faces such as Manu Feildel and Sam Burgess will be subjected to extremities by Chief Instructor Ant Middleton, Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox and Ollie Olerton.
The ex-Special forces soldiers have prepared a number of tasks from the real SAS selection process, throwing the contestant’s celebrity status and gender out the window.
But as we watch everything unfold on our television screens, it’s only natural to question where this all took place.
Well luckily for you, we have the details.
The upcoming season of SAS Australia was filmed at Capertree Valley in NSW.
135 km northwest of Sydney, the Capertree Valley is the second largest canyon in the world — yes, it’s even bigger than The Grand Canyon.
“This year’s location is more isolated. It’s so vast, so open, so mountainous, that recruits think to themselves ‘there’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide’. And that can be a very intimidating place to be,” said Ant.
Describing the course, Ant stressed the importance of coming physically prepared, saying those who haven’t will be gone within the first two to three days.
“Don’t take the piss, don’t disrespect the process,” said Ant. “Go in with an open mind, knowing that we’re going to strip away all of your facades and expose you for who you really are.”
SAS Australia premieres on Monday, September 13 on Channel 7 and 7plus.
