We’re neck deep into Network Ten’s latest reality TV series, The Challenge Australia, and let’s just say … it’s a lot.
Not that it’s unexpected — put 22 reality TV stars in one house for a few weeks, and chaos is set to ensue.
But hey, it makes for good television! In case you don’t know, The Challenge Australia is a competition where Australia’s most famous reality stars compete in a series of physical challenges in the hopes of winning $200,000.
In addition to the huge cash prize, the winner of the series will go on to represent Australia in The Challenge World Championships, where they will go head-to-head with other Challenge winners from around the globe.
And while the show is essentially about the gruelling tasks, the main source of entertainment comes from inside the mansion, where the contestants head back home at the end of the day.
Located in Pilar, on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the challengers spent their time in the Quintaesencia Hotel & Spa. The accommodation comes complete with an indoor and outdoor pool, spa, gym and indoor bar.
The cast can also prepare meals for themselves in the enormous kitchen, before heading to their assigned bunk bed — or, sometimes, someone else’s.
According to a Network Ten spokesperson, close to 50 surveillance cameras were set up around the villa and in the eight bedrooms before the contestants arrived.
“There are about 80 crew who are in the field making it happen,” they said. “From the art department to the challenge team, the story team, stunts, etc.”
Argentina is definitely the perfect place to host The Challenge Australia, if we do say so ourselves. Whether the show takes place there next season is yet to be seen, but in the meantime, we’re soaking in the sights.
The Challenge Australia airs at 7.30pm on Network Ten on Mondays and Tuesdays. Catch up on 10 Play.
