Roll Out the Red Carpet — Here’s Where to Watch the BAFTAs If You’re in Australia
The 2022 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) are fast approaching, with the red carpet being rolled out this coming Monday, March 14. Actors, movie makers and industry professionals are brushing off their suits and gowns for the first in-person BAFTAs since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the BAFTAs are considered to be one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the UK. Recognising the phenomenal talent within the film industry, the guest list usually includes members of the royal family alongside Hollywood’s finest.
Hosted by Australia’s very own, Rebel Wilson, the show is most definitely going to be an entertaining one. The comedian and actress will be joined by a legion of stars such as Dame Shirley Bassey and Emilia Jones, who are set to perform on the night.
On Monday, the 60th anniversary of the James Bond franchise will be celebrated with Dame Shirley delivering a rendition of the iconic 007 theme song.
In terms of nominees, Dune is leading the way with a whopping 11 nominations, followed by The Power of the Dog which has eight and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, which has six.
The contenders for the EE Rising Star award is No Time To Die’s Lashana Lynch, West Side Story’s Ariana DeBose, A Quiet Place’s Millicent Simmonds, The King’s Man actor Harris Dickinson and Kodi Smit-McPhee from The Power of the Dog.
So Where Can You Catch All the Action?
If you want to catch the glitz and glamour live then it pains me to say, that you most likely won’t be getting much sleep. The BAFTAs will be airing on BBC at 6 am AEDT or 3 am if you’re in WA on Monday, March 14.
If you don’t have a Foxtel subscription, you can also watch the ceremony live on the BAFTA Facebook page.
