2022 has been a big year for reality TV, and with the return of Love Island Australia, it’s set to get even bigger.
The show, based on the highly successful UK original Love Island, is gearing up for its premiere on October 31 — but there are a few changes you need to know about.
Don’t worry; the premise of the show remains the same. A bunch of 20-something singles will enter a villa in the hopes of finding love, but this time, instead of flying over to Byron Bay in New South Wales, the Islanders will be heading to Mallorca, Spain.
However, that’s only one of the major changes. Along with the filming location, Love Island Australia will air exclusively on 9Now, the network’s streaming platform.
In previous years, the show has been available to watch on both Channel 9 and 9Now, but it seems the execs over at Nine decided to shake things up this year.
To add to the above, this year, the episodes will be pre-filmed rather than be shown within 24 hours. The finale, which is usually shown live, will also be pre-recorded.
While there are many new aspects of the series we’ll have to get used to, there are plenty of things that have remained the same.
For one, Sophie Monk is back to host Season 4, a role she has held since the show’s inception in 2018.
The prize money also remains the same, with the winning couple receiving $50,000 — an amount they can either split amongst each other or keep for themselves.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how Season 4 of Love Island Australia plays out!
Love Island Australia premieres on October 31 on 9Now.
