5 People Lucky Enough to Have Dated Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne exploded onto the modeling scene in the early 2010s as one of the most sought-after names in fashion. As her modeling career took off, she also took up acting and has since appeared in a number of different films and TV shows over the years, including “Paper Towns,” “Suicide Squad,” “Her Smell,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Carnival Row.”

Despite her celebrity status and fame, Delevingne is not very open about her personal life, including those she’s romanced through the years, though she has vaguely alluded to how she chooses her partners. “However one defines themselves, whether it’s ‘they’ or ‘he’ or ‘she,’ I fall in love with the person – and that’s that,” she told Variety in 2020 of her pansexual identity. “I’m attracted to the person.”

Since emerging into the spotlight, the model-turned-actor has been the subject of many dating rumors (and bizarre encounters), which have included everyone from Harry Styles and Jaden Smith to Miley Cyrus and even Leonardo DiCaprio. But outside of speculated flings, Delevingne has only had a handful of significant relationships.

Cara Delevingne and Jake Bugg (November 2012 - April 2013)

Delevingne’s first public relationship was with British singer Jake Bugg. The two started dating sometime in November 2012 after they were introduced by “Poison” singer Rita Ora. The pair dated for five months before the model cut their relationship short in April 2013.

A source told The Mirror the short-lived relationship ended due to their busy schedules. “She weighed things up and with Jake’s career taking off too, they didn’t get to see a huge amount of one another anyway,” the source said.

While Delevingne seemed unbothered by the breakup, Bugg reportedly took it hard. “Jake is very upset. Cara is a great catch and lots of fun. She definitely won’t have any trouble finding a replacement for him,” the source revealed.

Cara Delevingne and Michelle Rodriguez (December 2013 - May 2014)

Michelle Rodriguez and Delevingne sparked romance rumors weeks before the “Fast and Furious” actress confirmed their relationship status to The Mirror in February 2014. According to the outlet, the two started dating sometime in late December/early January 2014 and were frequently spotted in public together.

Touching on her new relationship, Rodriguez told The Mirror, “It’s going really well. She’s so cool. When we started hanging out I just thought she was awesome, and we have the best time together.” Gushing about Delevingne, Rodriguez also explained, “She’s hard though. You wouldn’t want to mess with her in a fight.”

The couple dated for around four months before ultimately splitting up in May of 2014. Rodriguez was supportive of Delevingne when she started a relationship with Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent). Regarding the new relationship, the “Avatar” actress told E! News, “Oh that’s so sexy, you go girl! Work it out, I think that’s hot!”

Cara Delevingne and St. Vincent (December 2014 - September 2016)

One of Delevingne’s longer and more serious relationships was with singer St. Vincent. The two met in December 2014 at one of the singer’s U.S. tour stops and started dating shortly after, according to Grazia. The pair mainly kept their relationship under wraps, but were seen on a few different occasions in public, whether at a Burberry fashion show or the Brit Awards red carpet.

Despite their low-key relationship, the pair stayed strong. Delevingne, who is notoriously quiet about her romances, even gushed about her GF to Vogue in August 2016, saying, “I’m completely in love… Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love. I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world. Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”

In an unexpected twist, the couple split up less than a month later in September 2016. According to The Sun, the model and St. Vincent allegedly split due to their packed schedules and the familiar pressures of a long-distance relationship. While some breakups can end on a bitter note, the two have had nothing but nice things to say about one another. The singer told Grazia shortly after, “Dating Cara was a big part of my life.”

Cara Delevingne and Ashley Benson (August 2018 - April 2020)

Delevingne was next linked with “Pretty Little Liars” actress Ashley Benson in August 2018 after the two were spotted kissing at Heathrow Airport in London. Benson and the model met while working on the set of the movie “Her Smell,” and allegedly hit it off right away.

Benson and Delevingne’s couple status wasn’t confirmed until June 2019 when Delevingne opened up about their relationship to Marie Claire. Regarding how their romance developed, the model said, “We weren’t looking for it. It was really just very authentic and natural.”

Delevingne further commented on their relationship in an interview with Porter in September 2019, revealing Benson was the first person she hadn’t pushed away in a relationship. “You can’t push me away. I’m going to be nice to you, I love you. I’m just like, wait, so all I have to do is just let you be nice to me? Why have I never done that before? OK,” she said.

Though the pair appeared to be going strong, they went their separate ways in April 2020. A source confirmed the news to People at the time, saying that while they had their ups and downs, “Their relationship just ran its course.”
