Lizzo is 100 percent that b*tch with or without a partner in her life, and we don’t need a DNA test to prove it. But with all of her songs about romance, heartbreak, and sex, fans can’t help but wonder what’s going on in the 33-year-old’s love life. In “Truth Hurts,” the songstress even references a “new man on the Minnesota Vikings” in the chorus, and at a May 2019 concert, Lizzo disclosed that the mystery boyfriend who inspired the song was from her hometown of Detroit. “Y’all want to know a secret?” she asked the crowd. “The person I wrote that song about is from Detroit.” Tell us more, girl!
While Lizzo certainly isn’t shy when it comes to flirting with celebrity hotties (her flirtationship with Chris Evans is the stuff dreams are made of), but she’s historically been tight-lipped about her actual dating life.
Now, a recent outing has fans wondering if Lizzo is finally ready to take a relationship public. The singer was spotted holding hands with a mysterious masked man outside of Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood on Feb. 14, 2022. Considering her cute red dress and the fact that this apparent date night went down on Valentine’s day, fans put two and two together and decided that the masked man is Lizzo’s new partner. Lizzo has not addressed the rumours about her relationship status and it’s unclear who the man under the mask is, but that won’t stop fans from being exceptionally happy for the songstress.
For the record, whether or not Lizzo is no longer single has no bearing on her philosophy on love. On the same night as her Valentine’s Day date, she posted to Instagram reminding her followers to redefine love. “When you think of love, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Is it romance? Flowers & candy?” she wrote. “I’ve come a long way in redefining love. I think of compassion for others, talking on the phone w friends and laughing all night, looking in the mirror & dancing for myself. Love is a precious element, like gold. unbreakable and unconditional. Redefine what being in love feels and looks like. Help a stranger, call a friend, hype yourself up. I’m praying you attract the love you deserve.”
Lizzo has always promoted self-love over romantic love. “Even if I were in a relationship, I’m a single-minded individual, and I really like my freedom,” she explained to People in July 2019. “I think there’s a lot of people that need to be in relationships and need to be in love. I want it sometimes, but I don’t need it.” When it does come to romance, however, Lizzo’s attraction isn’t limited to men. In a 2018 interview with Teen Vogue, Lizzo explained, “When it comes to sexuality or gender, I personally don’t ascribe to just one thing.”
Still no word on whether Lizzo’s Valentine’s date with her mystery man was romantic, but fans sure hope it was!
